William Gallacher

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Gallacher, an engineer by profession, is President of Avenir Consolidated Corp., a private equity firm based in Calgary, Alberta, with an investment focus on value and growth ventures. Avenir’s core holdings have been built on a business model that includes a solid management team, a strategic business plan and the capital to execute the plan. Mr. Gallacher has a diverse array of experience in developing businesses and working with the capital markets, and has been involved with the start-up of a number of junior energy companies in Calgary. Currently he sits on the board of directors of Athabasca Oil Sands Corp. (Chairman), AvenEx Energy Corp. (CEO) and Black Diamond Limited.

Sveinung Svarte

Non-Executive Director

Sveinung Svarte has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, including 17 years with Total SA and five years with Conoco. From 2005 to 2006 he served as VP Corporate Development for Total E&P Canada, covering the Exploration, New Ventures & Business Development, Planning & Development and R&D departments. Previously, he served for two years as VP Oil Sands.

Mr. Svarte holds M.B.A. and M.Sc. degrees, and also currently serves as President and CEO of Athabasca Oil Sands Corp.

Gary Dundas

Chief Financial Officer

Gary Dundas brings a diverse range of experience, including corporate evaluations and acquisitions, treasury and finance alternatives, financial modeling, strategic planning, marketing and hedging to the CIOC Board of Directors.

Holding an M.B.A. and C.M.A. certification, and having more than 25 years of oil and gas financial management experience, Mr. Dundas also serves as VP of Finance, CFO and Director of Avenir Diversified Income Trust. Formerly, he was CFO and VP of Finance, General Manager of Corporate Development and Marketing, and Controller at Maxx Petroleum Ltd., a publicly traded junior exploration and production company. Mr. Dundas also has prior domestic and international experience with Bow Valley Industries Ltd., North Canadian Oils Ltd., and Co-Enerco Resources Ltd.

Samir Ghazi

Executive Director of CIOC and President of CIOC USA

Samir Ghazi has more than 30 years of industry experience and leadership base in international new ventures and global exploration. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Ghazi worked in Marathon Oil's International Exploration New Ventures group. As the New Ventures Exploration Manager for the Middle East and Australasia regions, he and his team assisted in new-country entry strategies and in identifying and recommending new exploration opportunities for Marathon. Prior to joining Marathon, Mr. Ghazi served in multiple capacities with Conoco and ConocoPhillips from 1981 to 2006, most recently as the Director of the Global Studies Group responsible for creating and recommending opportunities to supplement the ConocoPhillips exploration opportunity inventory internationally.

Mr. Ghazi holds an M.A. degree in petroleum geology from the University of Texas at Austin, is a member of AAPG and the Houston Geological Society, is a licensed Petroleum Geologist in the State of Texas, and has authored numerous technical papers and presentations.
